The name Guantanamera should be quite easy to recognize for most people. It comes from the title of a famous song by the Cuban composer, Joseito Fernández in 1928. This was a very popular song around the world, especially during its push in the 1960s. As for the age of the brand, this is a fairly young cigar label, as it was only introduced to the world in 2002. Instead, Guantanmera cigars get their tobacco from Vuelta Arriba, the second most important tobacco region. Each vitola in the line is known as "machining", which simply means they are machine-made.

Instead, its founder Agustín Quintero with his four brothers established a shop in the city of Cienfuegos, on the south coast, known as the "Pearl of the South". All tobaccos selected for the Quintero filling mixture come from the Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta areas. All Quinteros are manufactured using the Short Tripe technique.

The name Romeo y Julieta, created as a Habanos brand in 1875, has its roots in the literary tragedy of the same name by the English writer William Shakespeare.

The brand achieved international renown in the early years of the 20th century, after Don “Pepín” Rodríguez, one of the first to recognize the importance of rings as a factor for success.
